DEIB: The district’s DEIB committee has put together a presentation on the various December holidays and celebrations. You may access it here.

Barrington Education Foundation: Each year, the BEF has their STAR program. This is a program where you can purchase a star as a way to say thank you to a faculty and staff member in our school and other schools in the Barrington Public Schools. You can access information about the STAR program here.
Progress Reports: With the end of the first trimester coming up, students will receive a progress report. These reports will be available in Aspen on December 16, 2024. (You will receive an email indicating when they are viewable by parents.) If you do not remember your username or password, you may email aspenhelp@barringtonschools.org. We do not have access to this information at the school.
Parent Conferences: Parent conferences are scheduled for December 9, 2024. Most conferences will be held on this day. Your child’s teacher probably has reached out to you about setting up a conference. Please note: This is a no school day for students.
Library Newsletter: Mrs. Greene, our school librarian, had created a library newsletter for you to read so you know about the happenings in our library. You may access it here.
Sowams Speedway: We are looking for some parent volunteers for the month of December to assist with our Speedway. Information about signing up for this may be found here.
Coding: On December 10,2024, there is a night of family coding event at the Barrington Middle School. More information about this event may be found here.
PTO Meeting: There is a PTO meeting on December 2, 2024, at 7:00 in the evening. This is a virtual meeting. The link will be sent out on Monday.
Diaper Drive: A former Sowams student is working on a project for her Senior Project. Her project consists of collecting donations of diapers , children’s underwear, and children’s socks. All donated items will be given to Project Undercover. The drive will run December 2-9, 2024. At that time, there will be bins set up in our school’s foyer.
