superintendent update: november 1, 2024

Barrington Public Schools has begun another busy and exciting month! The collaboration, energy, and innovation that I regularly witness in each of our schools are just some (of many!) reasons I am thankful for our vibrant BPS community. As we look forward to all that November will bring, I would like to share with you some of the past month’s noteworthy accomplishments.

October’s District highlights represent the intersections of excellent educational instruction, inclusion, and community care that are present each day in our schools.

BPS Sustainability Report

Barrington Public Schools is participating in the Rhode Island Department of Education’s (RIDE) multi-stage eligibility process for school construction and state aid. BPS is moving forward in this process with a continued commitment to climate resiliency and sustainability. This Climate Resilient and Sustainable Schools Report clarifies the ways that our District embraces community stewardship, reduces our environmental footprint, and addresses community challenges. Here are more details about the report

Updated 2024-2025 School Calendar

The Barrington School Committee approved a change to the 2024-2025 school calendar that has shifted the last day of school for students from June 20, 2025 to June 18, 2025. This change, previously approved by RIDE, accommodates observance of the Juneteenth holiday. Please note that the last day of school for teachers remains June 20. The new calendar can be found at this link and on all district websites.

Thank you for your continued support of our Barrington Public Schools and your willingness to create strong family-school-community partnerships that help our students become responsible and engaged global citizens who are empowered to excel.

Wishing you a wonderful November,

Rob Wargo
