Good afternoon,
A big THANK YOU to everyone for such an amazing Octoberfest. It was so great to see so many Sowams families and Barrington community members out to support our school. This event takes so many people to organize and run. Thank you to all of our volunteers: parents, faculty, staff, former Sowams students, students from St. Luke’s School and members of various Barrington High School and Barrington Middle School clubs/organizations. Although it was a big team effort to have Octoberfest, a huge shout out to Shae Goodhue and Justine Rua for being the Co-Chairs of Octoberfest.
Now, it’s time to read this week’s Backpack Express:
Book Fair: Be on the lookout in the coming weeks for information about our Book Fair. The Book Fair will be open during the week of November 11, 2024. Classrooms will visit the fair during the day on either Tuesday or Wednesday of that week. You will be notified when your child’s class will visit. Family Night will take place on Thursday, November 14, 2024.
Halloween: Just as a reminder with Halloween coming up…we do not have students wear costumes to school on this day. Also, candy to be distributed to classmates should not be sent to school; it will be sent home with your child.
PTO Meeting: Our next PTO meeting is scheduled for November 4, 2024, at 7:00 in the evening. It is a virtual meeting. At this meeting, there will be representatives here from several companies to update families on the state of the school construction project. This will be the first item on the agenda. A link for the meeting will be sent that morning.
Speedway Volunteers: We are in need of volunteers to help with the Sowams Speedway (mileage club). If you are interested in helping and have a current background check on file, you may sign up here.
Community Notices: Primrose Hill School has their Spooky Stroll coming up on October 26, 2024. Barrington High School’s Science Olympiad Club also has a fundraiser on October 26, 2024. The Barrington Youth Basketball Association has youth recreational league starting soon.
