National Blue Ribbon: Earlier this week, we had the formal announcement of our National Blue Ribbon recognition. If you would like to watch the recognition video, you may do that here.
School Building Construction Community Forum: Over the next year, there will be various community forums to update everyone on what is happening with the school construction projects. The first forum is scheduled for Tuesday, October 8, 2024, at 6:00 PM at Barrington High School. The topic is Visioning and Initial Concepts. Forum dates and topics may be found here.
PTO Meeting: The next PTO meeting will be Monday, October 7, 2024, at 7:00 PM. It is a virtual meeting. The link to the meeting will be sent to you on Monday.
Flu Shot Clinics: Barrington Public Schools will host two upcoming flu shot clinics. There will be one at Sowams on Wednesday, October 23, 2024, from 3:30-7:00; the other is at Barrington High School on Tuesday, November 12, 2024, from 4:00-7:30. These clinics are free regardless of your insurance status. To sign up and for more information, click here.
Octoberfest: Don’t forget, Oktoberfest is coming up on October 19, 2024. This is a fun, family, community event that raises money for our school. A separate email was sent out with information.
Sowams PTO Family Night at RIFC: Join your Sowams Family and Friends at an RIFC soccer game. Tickets are $13 and will include a special section for Sowams to sit together as well as an opportunity for students to get on the field after the game to take penalty kicks. The game is scheduled for 4 pm on Saturday, October 13th at Beirne Stadium (Smithfield, RI). You can use this link to purchase your tickets.
DEIB Monthly Holidays/Celebrations: The district’s DEIB Committee has put together a calendar of resources of monthly holidays and celebrations. The October resources may be found here.
Vision Screenings: October 23, 2024, our school will be having students take part in a vision screening. This is one of the state required screenings we do each year. It is important that students bring their glasses to school on this day. Questions about the screening can be directed to Mrs. Mungovan, our school nurse teacher, at mungovans@barringtonschools.org.
