Volunteer Orientation: Along with a background check, all new volunteers need to participate in an orientation session with our Volunteer Coordinator. There is a 30 minute session at Sowams on Wednesday, September 25 at 9:00 in the morning. There are also other sessions in the district if you are not able to attend on Wednesday. More information and the dates may be found here.
Flu Shot Clinics: Barrington Public Schools hosts two upcoming flu shot clinics. There will be one at Sowams on Wednesday, October 23, 2024, from 3:30-7:00; the other is at Barrington High School on Tuesday, November 12, 2024, from 4:00-7:30. These clinics are free regardless of your insurance status. To sign up and for more information, click here.
Open House: Our annual Open House is coming up on September 25, 2024. This is an evening for parents/guardians to visit your child’s classroom and hear from their teacher about what happens each day at school. The times of the visit are as follows:
Kindergarten and Grade 1: 6:00-6:45
Grades 2 and 3: 7:00-7:45
Picture Day: Our school picture day is coming up on September 26, 2024. Information packs will be sent home but you may also order picture packages online at coffeepond.com. All children will have their pictures taken even if you are not purchasing a package. We do this to ensure all students are in our school’s yearbook.
PTO Events: There are two PTO family events coming up:
PTO Apple Picking: The PTO is sponsoring a morning of apple picking on September 29. More information about this may be found here.
Sowams Family Night at RIFC: Join your Sowams Family and Friends at an RIFC soccer game. Tickets are $13 and will include a special section for Sowams to sit together as well as an opportunity for students to get on the field after the game to take penalty kicks. The game is scheduled for 4 pm on Saturday, October 13th at Beirne Stadium (Smithfield, RI). You can use this link to purchase your tickets.
