It’s hard to believe that this is our last official Backpack Express for this school year. Our last day of school is next Tuesday, which is a full day. Enjoy reading this week’s Backpack Express.
Library Newsletter: Mrs. Greene has one final newsletter for you updating everyone on what’s happened in the library and some summer coding activities you can do with your child along with suggested books for all different grade levels. You can access it here.
Progress Reports: Your child’s end of the year progress reports will be available sometime on the last day of school (June 18, 2024). We do not have this information at the school so we will not be able to assist you.
2024 Octoberfest: Octoberfest 2024 planning has begun! This year’s event will take place at Sowams on October 19, 2024. Preparing for Octoberfest requires the support of our Sowams community, and there are many subcommittee opportunities open this year. Please consider leading one of these subcommittees with the support of the 2024 co-chairs. Click here to view and sign up for an open position! If you have questions about any of the positions before committing, please feel free to reach out at sowamsoctoberfest@gmail.com.

2024-2025 School Year: You may have questions about next year so here is some quick information for you:
The first day of school for students will be a full day on August 28, 2024. The most updated calendar may be found here.
On the afternoon of August 27, 2024, there is scheduled to be a meet and greet so students can meet their teachers, see their classroom, and say hi to their classmates. Information about this will be sent home on the placement letter.
Placement letters will be sent out in the middle of August. An exact date has yet to be determined.
Community Notices: There are several community notices for you. First, there is information about a blood drive in memory of a Barrington student. Second, there is an opportunity for families to receive free meals for the children. Information may be found on the following notices based upon language. Please note: English is listed on all of the fliers: Arabe, Creole, Portuguese, Swahili, and Spanish.
On behalf of the Sowams Faculty and Staff, thank you for another wonderful year of learning and growing with your child. Your support of our school and us is so greatly appreciated. We hope you have a wonderful and relaxing summer.
