The temperature is certainly much better than the past couple weeks and the students certainly are enjoying their time at recess with the sun shining. This week’s Backpack Express is full of information for you. You can find all of the information below:
Volunteer Orientation: All new volunteers not only need a background check, but they need to attend one of the orientation meetings. At these meetings, the Volunteer Coordinator fills you in on the important information you need to know as a volunteer. Sowams will host one of the volunteer orientation meetings on Wednesday, September 27, at 9:00 in the morning. You may also choose to attend a different date if this one is not good for you. Open House: Save the date for our annual Open House. It will take place on Wednesday, September 27, 2023. Kindergarten and grade one parents are invited to classrooms from 7:00 pm - 7:45 pm; our second and third grade parents are invited from 6:00 pm - 6:45 pm. This is the time for you to hear from our teachers about what occurs on a daily basis in your child’s classroom. This evening is for adults only.
Picture Day: Our school picture day is scheduled for September 28, 2023. Our photographer, Coffee Pond, will be here to take pictures of all of our students. Information on how to order pictures may be found here. Students' pictures are taken for everyone so everyone is included in our yearbook. If your child is out sick on our picture day, a make up day will be scheduled for another time. Ordering information has also been sent home with your child.
Dismissal Changes: It is very important that if your child is not going home their normal way that you send a note into school with your child. Since the start of the school year, many children have told teachers that they are not going home their typical way but don’t have a note. This ends up with the school having to call parents and delays to dismissal occur. Please make sure you send a note or your child will go home the normal way communicated to us for that particular day. We understand emergencies do happen so please call the school by 2:00 to inform us in the event of an emergency.
Barrington Education Foundation: Welcome back to school! BEF is looking for one parent liaison from each school to serve as a "bridge" for information shared between the school and our organization. If interested or would like more information, parents can email BEF at barredfdn@gmail.com. We look forward to seeing you at the Open Houses! More information may be found here.
September Holiday Celebrations: There are many different celebrations that occur during each month. Our district is dedicated to providing information about various celebrations and observances throughout the year. Monthly, we will send out information about these various celebrations. No School: Just a reminder, we do not have school on Monday, September 25, 2023, in honor of Yom Kippur.
Community Notices: There are several noticed for you this week from our Barrington community: Girl Scouts, Barrington Garden Club, Barrington Logo Design Contest, Scouting 1, and Scouting 2.
