Third Grade Reception Assistance: Assistance with 3rd Grade Reception: Our Third Grade Reception is our send off to our grade 3 students who are leaving us at the end of the school year. This year’s reception is the evening of June 21, 2023. It takes many people to make this night a success, including parents in kindergarten and grades 1 and 2. There are many opportunities for all parents to assist with our send off: food and drink donations, assistance during the ceremony so third grade parents can enjoy their child’s celebration. We would greatly appreciate your support of our 3rd graders and their families! Octoberfest: As we get ready for summer, Octoberfest 2023 Planning has begun! For the first time since 2019, Octoberfest will be back at Sowams School on October 14, 2023. None of the current Sowams students have experienced an Octoberfest as students of the school and we are excited to bring back Sowams biggest fundraiser this fall. Octoberfest requires the commitment of our community to be a success and we look forward to working with all of you to raise money for this special school while having fun!
Committee Cochairs - there are committee co chairs open. Cochairs range from smaller to larger commitments and most can be done from home! Please consider cochairing a committee with the support of the chairs. One co chair meeting will be held before the summer on June 14 (Time TBD). Sowams Swag: Our PTO has a pop up store! If you are looking for Sowams t-shirts or sweatshirts, now is the time to purchase them. Outdoor Day/Cookout: Save the date…Tuesday, June 20, 2023. There are a couple events that happen this day:
Outdoor Day: Our students get to have a fun morning playing games with their classmates. More information will be sent out about this; however, we do need volunteers to help make this day fun for our students. If you are able to volunteer, please sign up here.
Cookout: Families are invited to attend a cookout. This outdoor event is an opportunity to have lunch and recess with your child. Lunches need to be ordered by June 9, 2023. You may access the order form here. The cookout is 11:50-12:45. Payment for the cookout may be made by check (payable to Barrington Public Schools), cash, or MySchoolBucks.
PTO Meeting: The final PTO meeting of the year will be held Monday, June 5, 2023, at 7:00 in the evening. The meeting will take place at Sowams School.
Lost and Found: We have a lot of clothing, water bottles, and other items in our lost and found. On Thursday and Friday of this week, we will place our lost and found items in front of the building. Feel free to stop by when dropping off or picking up your child. Smaller items (i.e. earrings, watches) may be found with Mrs. Kotsiris.
Book Swap: Mrs. Greene is hosting a book swap for our students. Information about the swap may be found here.
Community Notices: Tap In is hosting an Open House. Barrington Youth Soccer has registration available.
