It has been a great season for the Barrington High School boys outdoor track & field team! Last weekend, they won the Rhode Island Interscholastic League Class B Championship held at West Warwick High School!

Last night, the Barrington High School girls lacrosse team played their last home game of the season on Victory Field with a special dedication to Morgan's Message in support of mental health awareness in the student-athlete community. 🦋
🏅🏛 BHS STUDENT RECEIVES LEADERSHIP AWARD:
Congratulations to Barrington High School student, Emma, for receiving the 2024 Rhode Island Young Leader Award! This award recognizes Emma's high academic achievement, commitment to community service, and entrepreneurial spirit. Rhode Island General Treasurer, James Diossa, recently presented Emma and other students from local high schools with this award during a ceremony at the Rhode Island State House.

🎨🎉BHS STUDENT SELECTED FOR CONGRESSIONAL ART COMPETITION:
Congratulations to Barrington High School artist, Vivian, for winning the 2024 Congressional Art Competition for Rhode Island's First Congressional District!
Vivian's painting, titled "Burnout," will hang at the U.S. Capitol Building in Washington, DC, for the next year and she and her family will attend the celebratory opening in June.
🌊⛵️BHS SAILING TEAM COMPETES IN CHICAGO:
Over the weekend, the Barrington High School sailing team competed at the National Invitational Tournament in Chicago, Illinois, for the first time in the team's history and placed 7th overall. Way to go, Eagles! 🦀
🥇🐯TOUGH TIGER 2024:
Hundreds turned out to participate in this year's Hampden Meadows Elementary School Tough Tiger race yesterday!
The 1.5 mile Tough Tiger course featured more than a dozen obstacles for participants to race through including cargo nets, a mud pit, and a "car wash" near the finish line. This year's Tough Tiger also featured an adaptive course that catered to a range of abilities and levels.
We are already looking forward to Tough Tiger 2025! 🌞🏆

If you visited the Barrington Public Library late last month, you may have seen artwork created by students in Ms. Lindenberg's Advanced Placement art class!
The show "Art in Bloom," a collaboration between the Barrington Garden Club and Barrington High School, featured floral arrangements paired with student paintings.

🎾TENNIS DOUBLES TEAM WINS STATE CHAMPIONSHIP AGAIN:
Congratulations to our Barrington High School student athletes, Gabe and Bryce, on their repeat win as Rhode Island Interscholastic League tennis doubles state champions!
They are the first doubles team to win back-to-back state championships since 2002.
Way to go, Gabe and Bryce! 🎖👏
🏀🏆UNIFIED BASKETBALL TEAM WINS CHAMPIONSHIP:
On Saturday, May 11, the Barrington High School unified basketball team became state champions after winning the Rhode Island Interscholastic League Division Five Unified Basketball Championship!
Congratulations to our student athletes and coaches! What an awesome way to end the basketball season!
💌HAMPDEN MEADOWS CREATES KINDNESS CHAIN:
As our district celebrated A Day Without Hate, Hampden Meadows Elementary School students created a kindness chain representing recent acts of kindness by students and staff. The kindness chain was more than 170 feet long! Students presented the chain to all members of the HMS community at this week's Community Meeting.

💙💛BPS CELEBRATES A DAY WITHOUT HATE:
We're all in this together! Barrington High School's Chain Reaction club recently organized a district-wide celebration of A Day Without Hate to encourage all members of our Barrington community to commit to unity, mutual respect, and nonviolence.
Our students, staff, and families created peace posters for display in each of our schools as a visible reminder that kindness is a cornerstone of our community and BPS does not tolerate violence or hate. 🐝
Special thank you to BHS artist, Keta, for designing this year's BHS mural! The mural was divided into 60 square pieces and each advisory painted a square together.

📚📜BPS STUDENTS EXCEL AT RI HISTORY DAY:
With the support and guidance of faculty advisors, students across our district have been preparing since October for the Rhode Island History Day Contest. Over the weekend, 12 students from Barrington Middle School and Barrington High School showcased research projects related to this year's theme, Frontiers in History.
Great work, Harry, Cole, Estrella, Liam, Vishnu, Ananth, Ela, Samuel, Mia, Morgan, Jane, Sadie, and Jackson! Special congratulations to Samuel, Mia Morgan, Jane, and Sadie, whose projects qualified for participation in the National History Day contest at the University of Maryland in June.
🧬🔬BMS SCIENCE OLYMPIAD TEAM PLACES THIRD AT STATE COMPETITION:
Congratulations to the Barrington Middle School Science Olympiad team for placing third at the Rhode Island Science Olympiad Tournament this month!
As a team, they brought home 5 gold medals, 2 silver medals, and 3 bronze medals for an overall third place finish at the state competition.

⚓️HOPE CLUB HELPS STUDENTS MAKE HEALTHY CHOICES:
Members of the HOPE Club at Barrington High School work hard to live the club's mission of HOPE: helping ourselves protect each other.
HOPE Club peer educators recently shared important information about the harmful effects of vaping with students at BHS.
